Does Boogie’s torn quad mean he returns to the Dubs on another one-year midlevel exception deal?

The Warriors adding Durant would be more akin to the 80's Bulls adding Larry Bird or Moses Malone in their prime.33anda3rd wrote:Totally fair to compare them to Jordan's Bulls who added the best European player in NBA history at that time and a top-12 or so all-time PF for their second run. They don't win the last three without those great talents, though the internet is quite silent about what that Bulls team did to get the second threepeat.BottenFieldofDreams wrote:Is it fair to compare Steph's Warriors to Jordan's Bulls before Durant leaves? I guess as ultimate teams of their era (this era being ridiculous). It would be fun to have Steph back. I sure hope this is the last ride.

Re: 2019 NBA Playoffs Poll
They added the best rebounder and best defensive forward in the league to a team that had Jordan, Pippen, Kukoc. That Rodman wasn't, like KD, the 2nd best overall player in the league, is a very minor nit to pick.Socnorb11 wrote:The Warriors adding Durant would be more akin to the 80's Bulls adding Larry Bird or Moses Malone in their prime.33anda3rd wrote:Totally fair to compare them to Jordan's Bulls who added the best European player in NBA history at that time and a top-12 or so all-time PF for their second run. The general narrative goes that Jordan is the GOAT, Jordan did all these things Lebron never did, Jordan didn't "cheat" by playing with other stars.
Jordan never dragged a team single-handedly to the Finals and LeBron did it twice. Jordan played with Pippen, the best Euro player to date, and the best defender/rebounder in the league. Jordan did not singlehandedly fell the entire Association at a time when today's prima donnas would have been too [expletive] to compete.

Again, it would be like Jordan getting Bird or Malone (in their prime) on his team. Think about that for a minute.
I'm not saying that the Bulls never went out and got good players for Jordan to play with. You're a really smart guy. You know that Kukoc and Rodman aren't remotely the players that Durant is. Kukoc was a 6th man for most of his career (and the Bulls drafted him at the end of the first round........ it wasn't like they made some sneaky arrangement to get him on the team). Rodman was a one-dimensional player (an exceptional one).
What Lebron did with the Cavs teams was unbelievable. That's a completely different discussion. We were talking about the Warriors.

I understand we can draw that line between Jordan and KD, but then where do you draw a line for what is fair to add to your roster.Socnorb11 wrote:Again, it would be like Jordan getting Bird or Malone (in their prime) on his team. Think about that for a minute.
If the Warriors a few years ago didn't sign KD because KD went to the Lakers or something and they offered Andre Drummond a max deal and Drummond signed with them and Detroit let him go, is that too much for them to do? If they didn't get Drummond and they got Al Horford, would that have been too much? Like, if the Dubs, coming off that lost series to Cleveland, signed Drummond, a guy who can go for 20/20 any night, would that then have caused fans to moan that it wasn't fair, Drummond was soft, the Dubs are an evil empire?
On the other side of that, we all loved the Dubs in 2015, right? Curry was MVP. He was taking ludicrous shots we had never seen routinely taken before. He would pull up anywhere and swish. Thompson had that stunning game with 37 in a quarter. They beat the reigning punching bag soft cheater LeBron James in the Finals. And TWO YEARS LATER this team that we all loved when they came out of nowhere was reviled by certain fans for having the audacity to improve their team. What's the line for them? If they're not allowed KD in that offseason, are they allowed Drummond? Horford? Robert Covington? Josh Richardson? At what level should their autonomy to improve their team be capped?
That's why the Kukoc/Rodman thing matters. The Bulls traded Will Perdue straight-up for Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman. They added a Hall of Famer for virtually nothing to an already great team bringing the reigning GOAT back. If the Dubs are not allowed KD, or Drummond, or Horford because they are already too good, the Bulls should not have been allowed Rodman.

You underestimate Will Perdue.

I don't know where the line is, I just know that Kevin Durant joining the 72-win, championship winning Warriors needs to be plotted beyond it (I'm not sure how. Incentivise him to "go at these peoples" somehow).
No one is starting and anchoring a franchise with Dennis Rodman. He is not that kind of talent.

How about this? It's just like if Kevin Durant joined the 96 Bulls.

You Bulls fans aren't forced to daydream like this, but it's like if Arvydas wasn't stuck behind the Iron Curtain until he could barely shuffle up the court.
Let me try to correct the flow. Patrick Beverly belongs on the Mt. Rushmore of weasels. I can't get behind it, even when, as now, he's doing the lord's work. I'm not watching, but by all accounts he's doing his thing. Westbrook is a great heel. There's nothing fun about Patrick Beverly. At least he doesn't line up with James Harden anymore--that was a lot to try and swallow--Harden's nauseating game of technicalities and Beverly trying to get in Lillard's head.
But I've hit all these points before. In Clyde Drexler's view, if Sabonis had been able to spend his prime in Portland, next to the plethora of other Trail Blazers' All Stars, the Trail Blazers would "have had four, five or six titles. Guaranteed. He was that good. He could pass, shoot three pointers, had a great post game, and dominated the paint."
