Nice read from Bernie Miklasz about the series:

The only one I've emptied is the quart+ bottle of bud from 2006 which bit the dust shortly after Craig caught the ball in left for the 2011 title. I don't have any '11 beers but the poster more than makes up for it.JCShutout wrote:Rad, we have some of the same swag. I've got one of those Blues bottles (empty though), the 2011 game 6 poster (2nd printing though) and a can each of the 06 and 11 WS win beers.
Not in picture are 2 bottles of Coke from 1982.

I have yet to see Berube get the word on next season. Officially he is still interim. Though, I guess there has hardly been time, no way you do an extension in playoff season and rile up the gods. And they essentially have been in playoff mode since he started.JCShutout wrote:Yeo out. Berube interm coach. https://www.nhl.com/blues/news/yeo-reli ... -302114872

Looking forward to another game 7 tonight. Probably won't make it all the way through this one though.

I finally had a chance to watch the recaps. (I only listen to games so I hadn't seen those plays yet) He committed shot (butterfly) on the first, was fooled, and was slow to slide over. On the 2nd, he attempted to bat the puck away, which put him slightly out of position, slowing his recovery to the opposite post. It does seem like he's potentially slightly vulnerable to a wraparound if you can fool him getting him to commit to the butterfly, (iirc, I've seen this one or two other times this series) but you have to be quick and perfect on the wraparound, which is tough to do. Its a difficult choice, you either don't butterfly, leaving more low space for a direct shot to go in, or you err on the side of protecting the direct shot, in the hopes that the opponent doesn't make a perfect wraparound play. I wonder if Binny would lead with his stick to the far post when he is caught down, it might help close that gap sooner, in time for the pad to catch up. Then again, unless that starts to be a problem, don't over think things and fix what ain't broke right now.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:I don't know anything about goalie mechanics/angles/fundamentals/etc but it does seem like Binnington is really good at it. The only thing I saw last night that caused question was how out of position he was on both wrap around attempts. Those guys had the near post plus a foot both times that were completely unobstructed, they just missed. That said, it was clear that Dallas was trying to come down one side, draw Binnington over then pass to the other side where they whiffed on a couple shots. Of course, it seems like that would lead to a goal against any goalie.
Then again, I haven't played in almost 20 years, so take my analysis with a grain of salt.

Love the vintage pennants, JC.
Hate the fact that the Blues won't be the team to end the season for Stan's team.

Blues beat Dallas in 7 to face the Sharks in the Western Conference Finals. Where have we seen this before?
Bad news. I feel like the Blues get burned often by great offensive defensemen, and the Sharks have the best two in the league. Plus Vlasic, who is one of the most underrated D-men.
The good news? In the playoffs Karlsson has 12 points, but a -5 rating. Burns has 14 points, +2. They’re weak defensively, and the Blues can exploit that. Vlasic scares me more, because while he’s merely good offensively, he’s a defensive beast.
