Blues didn't make a move to get into the 1st. Not surprising. I figure we can't really trade anyone for a pick except Steen, and he has a NTC.
*Can't trade Allen until you have Binner signed. Worst thing would be to trade Allen, then lose Binner to a big offer sheet.
They did tweet this though:
Nicely played Blues. Nicely played.

Karlsson gets just under $6m for 8 years from Vegas. I'm really hoping that's a good comp for Schenn next year. (but maybe 5 years instead of 8) Both guys had really similar numbers the last 2 years.

Not that it matters -- no cap hit -- but any word on annual salary for Chief?

Not sure, but as a tangent I'm torn on the Chief nickname. On one hand, I like it. The team buys into it, Berube has had it for a long time, and it seems to fit. On the other hand, it is a really lazy common nickname for players of First Nation descent. Thus in that regard a bit insensitive at the least, and kinda racist at the most.GeddyWrox wrote:Not that it matters -- no cap hit -- but any word on annual salary for Chief?
While I'm being a total wet blanket, another thing that struck me as a bit unsettling was during the rally, and they did the whole "biggest heroes" shout-out to all of the policemen and firemen who have been pulling extra duty through all of the celebrations, etc. Then there was some side comment about the tough times the city has been through in recent years and the negative national attention. And of course several comments about how the Blues run has really brought the city together. All in all, kinda tone deaf when you are addressing a crowd that's 99.5% white (estimated) in a city that's nearly half African American. I'm venturing to guess that the Blues run--while really incredible for us Blues fans--has done little to help heal the wounds between the black population and the police force.
