Sign Maroon to the same deal please. I see the Hometown Hero the same way. Love him, but can't be sentimental. More than, say, $2m? Thank you and goodbye. For around $2m, that's only a mill or so more than someone you'd have to pay anyways, and doesn't force Kyrou on the roster, who might benefit from a full season in the minors.

Re: St Louis Blues Greatest Offseason Thread Ever
It is a decent deal. My only concern is that we are already a bit heavy on decent-not-great LD.
Left: Jay-bo, Dunn, Edmundson, Gunnarsson
Right: Petro, Parayko, Bortuzzo
If I was ranking them in tiers and in order for importance to the team over the next few seasons, it is something like:
Petro (R)
Parayko (R)
Dunn (L)
Jay-bo (L) - for now
Edmundson (L)
Gunnarsonn (L)
Bortuzzo (R)
I'd like someone to upgrade over Bortuzzo on that 3rd pairing, instead of occasionally running 4 LHD. It would help Petro and Parayko from having to play so many hard minutes throughout the season. We're pretty thin on D as far as prospects as well - Schmaltz is RH, but he's not really progressing into a good NHL caliber player. So I'd like it better if we were signing a RH Gunnarsonn type. Or save the dollars and roster space to upgrade at LHD to another player in Dunn's tier.

Also forgot - Petro is a UFA after this season.

Re: St Louis Blues Greatest Offseason Thread Ever
I mostly agree on order of importance, though I think Edmundson is better than he showed this year, and pretty important-for the right salary-$3m-$3.5m, though still below Dunn in importance, I think Eddy's a legit 4th dman for a contender.
I wanted a better 7th man than Bort... until I saw that he was good enough to be the 6/7th man on a Stanley Cup winner.
I'm okay with good, not great LD because we have two Great RD in Petro and Parayko. Its a salary cap league. Unless you get really lucky, you aren't going to have 4 top pair Dmen. I think both Petro and Parayko are legit top2 guys, and Dunn has the potential to be a #2/3, while Eddy can be a solid #4, with both of the latter being (or potential to being) good enough to pair with a #1/2.
Resigning Petro and getting Dunn signed to a good deal are priorities 1A and 1B next year, with Schenner like a 1C+. A top4 of Petro, Parayko, Dunn and Eddy is enough to keep a window open for a few years.

Thank you for everything hometown hero. Standing Ovation every time you come back. Can't blame the man if he wants to take the money and run, and I hope the Blues make the smart, though admittedly difficult choice.
Kyrou time!

no kidding...it all seems great because we won the cup, but for the majority of the season maroon was awful.JCShutout wrote: Thank you for everything hometown hero. had some shining moments for sure in the playoffs, but had 0 points in the entire 7 finals games.
i'd love to have him/his style back on the cheap...but if teams are gonna pay a lot, then let 'em.

If that’s the Calgary rumor, it’s a fake

Re: St Louis Blues Greatest Offseason Thread Ever
my daughter , she called to tell me, (actual work day phone calls are rare.) And just like she did when she called told me Zdeno Chara was out for rest of the Cup (I found that unsubstantiated before GRB could call me on it)cardsfantx wrote:If that’s the Calgary rumor, it’s a fake
I quizzed her -asked her where she saw it and everything. She gets murky and says NHL something... And then she says she'll send me the link if I want it. I don't force the issue and post it here. Haha....nevermind.
Edit: I just texted her that it is still just a rumor...her reply "I hope so".

Blais is back for one year at $850k. That's about right where it should be. I think we'll see a similar number for Fabbri and Sanford.
Panik got 4/11 ($2.75m/yr) from Washington. That's gotta be the neighborhood for Sunny, Barbie and Maroon, and one would think we could make all of them fit in that neighborhood as long as Binner and Eddy don't cost the moon.
