If any team can blow his development, it's the White Sox.

I think the Cards should have signed him but his K/BB is [expletive]. It will be hard for him to go above the 110 wRC+ mark over course of the season with that ratio unless he bats > .280
We already have a guy with similar peripherals and power ability.

Man, he's got a really quiet stance and swing.

That swing looked effortless.GeddyWrox wrote:Man, he's got a really quiet stance and swing.

If we didn't have Arozarena and Carlson waiting in the wings I would be upset about missing out on him but it's not like we only have Adolis Garcia to fall back on.

Arozarena has a 40 future value. Robert's is 55.JoeMcKim wrote:If we didn't have Arozarena and Carlson waiting in the wings I would be upset about missing out on him but it's not like we only have Adolis Garcia to fall back on.
O'Neill's is 50 and higher than Randy's.
FWIW. I don't think Arozarena projects beyond a role player if he's not in CF full time. But some say he might project to a late bloomer/Pham type at minimum.
I am guessing the team wants to roll the dice with O'Neill to make/break himself for April-June 2020 and if he fails, it's Carlson time. Otherwise Carlson will float and take the place of the lowest productive OF.
We can all compare AA/AAA numbers and things like that but there's a reason Robert was signed to a huge deal. Randy Arozarena isn't going to sniff that kind of production. IMO. Though I'd be concerned with Robert's plate discipline, you got to trust the scouts.

Which scouts, the ones who convinced the Cards to draft Pete Kozma over Porcello?Big Amoco Sign wrote:you got to trust the scouts.
Low blow (directed at the Cards regime of the time) but I couldn't help it.

Hopefully Carlson has an insane spring so we don't have to delay the inevitable.
