The Rockies Owner wrote:In ’08, with basically the exact same team (as ’07), we won 74 games and lost 88,” Monfort said. “But like a great American hero, Forrest Gump, once said, ‘(Stuff) happens.’ And that’s what happened in ’08, because in ’09 we won 92 and lost 70. Most of the people I talk to that were on those teams say the ’09 team was our greatest team.
“I interpolated ’07, ’08 and ’09 — I had an analytical staff go through and interpolate those numbers — and so in 2020, we’ll win 94 games and lose 68.

I always find it odd how polarizing owners are. Generally owners are either really good or really bad. There's a few mediocre, but it's a lot more extreme than you'd think.Magneto2.0 wrote:Mets sell of the team to Steve Cohen has fallen through do to the Wilpons changing terms of the deal at the last minute.
I would imagine the high price to acquire a major sports franchise would mean only people who can successfully run such a franchise would end up acquiring them.
Pro Sports Franchises are probably one of the better examples that you can't directly correlate success and money.

Yankees’ James Paxton out 3-4 months following back surgery
The club announced Wednesday that James Paxton, the possible No. 2 starter, underwent a microscopic lumbar discectomy for the removal of a peridiscal cyst. According to the Yankees, Paxton’s approximate timeline to return to major league action is three to four months. That means he could be shelved through May.
According to Dr. Andrew Hecht, chief of spine surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital and a spine surgeon consultant for the Jets and Islanders, Paxton’s problem — a disc herniation — isn’t unusual.
