I mentioned before that I hit a pothole on Monday or Tuesday and blew out a tire. I needed four new tires anyway so it sucked but wasn't the end of the world.

I put four new tires on the car yesterday afternoon and I was really happy because they only cost me $480 thanks to my dad hooking me up with the shop's price, no sales tax, mounting/balancing, etc. I ran deliveries for Postmates for about four hours after picking up the car and made a little over $100 with more tips left to come in (hopefully) but I was still in a slightly depressed mood from being cooped up at home all week by myself so I decided to go for a little drive. Big [expletive] mistake.



I hit a deer down on 67 between Pevely and Arnold. There are not enough cuss words.

Thankfully only the deer was hurt and while the car is busted up, it could be a lot worse. Oddly enough there was a young couple walking along the road less than 100 yards from where I hit the deer so they came over and the guy helped me get the bumper and stuff away from the wheel good enough for me to drive a couple of miles to a gas station where I found a ride home and left the car there.

Then this morning my dad and I went back down to check it out and I think I got really lucky to some degree. We jacked took out the plastic from the wheel well that was hanging and I probably have enough clearance for the normal wheel and tire but to be safe we put on the spare for the drive home since the skinnier tire would offer more clearance. Other than all of the visible damage the car drives just like normal, tracks straight with my hands off the wheel, etc. The radiator and all the mechanical bits are intact. The passenger door opens and closes as good as new. The hood is not damaged at all, opens, closes and latches normally and lines up exactly where it is supposed to be. Thankfully all of that adds up to the damage being more or less just cosmetic other than the headlight assembly according to those I've talked to and have seen the pictures.

A friend of the family that I've known since the day he was born owns a body shop and reached out to me after seeing my FB post last night and said that he thinks he can get me back to good as new for around a grand so I'm hopeful that this stimulus payment will take care of the repair bill. I know that there will be little stuff that adds on to the cost of the repair but he didn't just pull the number out of thin air last night. He was looking online at prices for the grill, fender, headlight assembly, etc. and those added up to a grand but he can talk to his normal supplier Monday and probably do better. I also sent him more pictures from under the hood this morning after I got home so he could see a couple of structural things and he says that all checks out. Then there will just be the other little bits like the plastic for the wheel well, the windshield washer reservoir is cracked about halfway up (it is at least functional as is), and stuff like that. I figure that stuff will probably all add another $300 or so but am expecting to pay about $1500... which I don't have at the moment after putting tires on my car and paying the $1500 I owed on Federal Taxes recently. I guess I know exactly where my stimulus check is going.

It would be really nice if I could deliver all day today and tomorrow and then after work for the next week or so. I could have the money I need to fix the car in less than two weeks... but I can't exactly go driving the car around on deliveries in its current state.

I have bought a Nintendo Switch gaming system. I take no pleasure in reporting this. I am anti-gaming in all but the most dire circumstances.

I picked up RBI Baseball 20 last week to get my baseball fix for now. I haven't played it much but it was only $30. It's pretty decent so far. I'm only in the second game of my first season but Paul D. already has five hits... all homers. I haven't played at any parks outside of Cincy yet but man, the ball flies out of there like crazy even in RBI baseball. No lead is safe!

Super Mega Baseball 2 is a way better arcade style baseball game. It doesn't have real players but the gameplay, features and charm are light years better.

Get Mario Odyssey. It rules.

I am debating on getting a PS4 or Xbox One.

RBI baseball is available on both. The Show is only available on PS4. Which way should I go?

If baseball is a big for you, ps4 because of The Show. IMO RBI Baseball kinda sucks. That's why I play Super Mega Baseball 2. That said, both systems are pretty similar so you can't go wrong with either of them.

Personally, I have both consoles, but I use my Xbox mostly. They also have a thing called GamePass which in my opinion is the best value in gaming. It's basically Netflix for games. If you buy an Xbox with a GamePass sub you'll have access 100's of diverse and excellent games. Microsoft also releases all their games day 1 on GamePass (Halo, The Outer Worlds, Forza, Gears, Sea of Thieves, etc) so you don't have to spend $60 on their new games. They also add interesting games from other game makers every month. Many of them launch on GP or are very recent releases. I've discovered so many cool games using Gamepass. Basically, if you buy an Xbox you'd be crazy not to get a Gamepass sub. You'd have a killer library day 1 and you wouldn't need to buy anything else. Because of GP I hardly buy games anymore. It's pretty easy to find GP deals on slickdeals.net.

Gamepass is ridiculously good value. If you buy 2 games a year that would be on the service it basically pays for itself.

I'm 33 and i've never owned a PlayStation. It's an oddity considering i've spent so much time playing games. My biggest regret in that is that i've never played MLB The Show.
