Man this was the roughest week or ten day stretch of this year. On top of normal farming a lifelong friend of mine who is also a farmer has been working on building up his heard. He does pigs and cows, grassfed, organic, etc, etc. I've been helping him every morning feed and whatever else he needs. We got all the calves on the ground doing well for a few weeks now. But last night we had one that wasn't acting right. Got it to vet and it had a stomach issue. We got back to the farm and got it resettled with it's mom. Well tonight the calf and Mom were separated from the rest of the heard, not a good sign. Well the calf died, Mom wouldn't leave it's side. It was heart breaking. It's going to sound silly because they will be food someday but it is still terrible when you lose one. I definitely cried.

Next week will be better.

First World Rona problem but I'm isolating with my wife/business partner and our kids. I don't know when I'll get to be with my girlfriend again. I know there are many people more cut off from loved ones than me and I'm thankful for what I do have, but this still sucks.

Yeah that has to suck. We had my wife's friend Jody here for about ten days because she was trying to avoid going home to her city because the community she lives in had several cases. It was fun, but I kind of like it just the wife an I. Been trying to limit contact with my parents except for bringing them groceries. I do see dad at the farm every day but we are keeping our distance because if he gets it with his health issues it will be bad.

I was talking to a friend who has a condo at the Lake of the Ozarks and as been isolating there with her parents the past few weeks and the conversation almost made me completely fall off the wagon. Apparently the hotel/bar/entertainment complex within walking distance to her condo has opened back up. Couple that with the video she took of her first jet ski ride of the year and I was ready to book a room and head straight down there after finishing up work today to celebrate my birthday tomorrow all day at a bar. Sanity kicked in and I'm not however.

How is everyone not entirely obsessed with the Lori Vallow story? There's a couple in Kauai who fancy themselves prophets and have left a trail of dead people behind them. Law enforcement is hovering over them and it's strange they haven't pounced yet. Two kids are missing. Only it's way more interesting than that. The world ends 7/22/2020 for example. Attractive blonde lady. All of it.
Oh man. She's in jail now, and things are just getting more interesting. For example: this guy Chad told her her husband was actually dead and inhabited by a spirit/zombie named Nick Schneider. Chad's wife was also inhabited by a spirit/zombie. Both possessed spouses are dead now under mysterious circumstances and Chad and Lori are married and collecting the 144,000 people who have been chosen for exaltation in the upcoming end of the world.

Kids are still missing.

Crazy stuff. There was another episode of Dateline last week that tells the story from the beginning.

It's like Tiger King in real time. Less cats, more murder. Less country music, more Second Coming of Christ.

My wife got a warning tonight for exhibition of speed. lol I had to drop my truck off at the tire shop so she came and picked me up. I thought she'd bring her car, I was wrong, she brought the Viper. So we are headed home and she sees her friend jogging, so she clutches and gives it a big rev, which is loud AF. Cop lights her up and pulls her over. I couldn't stop laughing because she is the last person to speed. Anyway, just a verbal warning. I told her she should have asked for a written warning to frame it.

Saw the Dateline episode. It’ll be interesting to follow as the truth comes out.

Do you think Shaq knows that little general he hangs out with is actually a cartoon character?

I think he does, and he doesn't care. I watch a bit of his reality show. He seems super chill.

Two days in a row now, sitting at my little fold up desk in my "office"/bedroom, looking out my window a big hawk has landed right outside my window as he is being dive-bombed by multiple smaller black birds. Both times I've tried to get a pic but he flies away before I can load up my camera. *pouts*

The really amazing part is that I am pretty sure these were two completely different species of hawk! The one yesterday was gray with hints of tan and white speckles all over (red shouldered hawk?). The one today was more reddish brown, fewer spots and the feet showed less yellow than the first one (red tailed hawk?).

I need to install one of those motion sensor game cameras!
