Do people really think this is going to happen? The list of teams w/ players getting COVID is expanding and nothing has even started yet.

It's a mutual delusion at this point, much like our overall national response to CV. It's magical thinking writ large.

I can't watch this anymore. It's over. Turn the lights out. Bring in the bulldozers. Turn this place into a parking lot.

Ryan Zimmerman wrote on his diary in the Associated Press that he's "still deciding whether to play" this season.

Zimmerman has a three-week-old baby and also a mother with multiple sclerosis who he refers to as "super high-risk," so it's understandable that he's wrestling with the decision. The 35-year-old re-signed with the Nationals on a one-year, $2 million contract over the offseason after being limited to just 52 games due to injury last year. If Zimmerman ultimately decides to sit out, it would open up more at-bats for Eric Thames and Howie Kendrick.

I assume that the Cardinals alternate site for their extra 30 player pool will be in Springfield, MO. Thats the closest by Cardinals affiliate with a good facilities. Technically Peoria is closer but the Springfield ballpark and facilities are a lot newer.

That's the plan. The team had to ask for a exemption to go there since it was outside of the 100 mile radius rule for the player pool.

Peoria is about 160 miles away Springfield is 217 miles away so not a huge difference. And they would've had to ask permission to use Peoria anyways. I'm sure the Gateway Grizzlies or SLU Billikens fields wouldn't have been sufficient enough facilities.

I would imagine that the Blue Jays are going to have to share Tropicana with the Rays. I guess they could play in their AAA park in Buffalo but then where do they have their altenate site? They can play their play at The Trop and just have their altnerates play at their spring training complex.

Mike Leake is the first player to opt out for the 2020 season.
