I can't say I care enough to spin up a poll, but if someone wants to, go for it:
Since their wives are pregnant, will Trout and/or Harper opt out?

How is this supposed to work? I mean, I get the intent, but logistically and structurally? Am I overthinking this?

I read there are certain situations where the player still gets paid. If he's sitting out because of a personal underlying health condition, paid. If it's for a family member's medical condition, not paid.InvincibleCakeEater wrote: ↑June 29 20, 12:34 pmCards were on the hook for 4 mil on him this year, or whatever that is prorated. Leake doesn’t have anything that I’m aware of, so we’d be off the hook if not.

Yeah, they do. Jordan Hicks for example would still be paid if he decided to sit out. Rizzo also I’m assuming as he’s a cancer survivor.heyzeus wrote: ↑June 29 20, 3:52 pmI read there are certain situations where the player still gets paid. Jordan Hicks should be healthy by now since he was always expected back around the All Star break which is only about a week and half away from when that was supposed to be.

Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Cardinals have "had one positive COVID-19 test so far."
The positive test came out of the entry screening process for the team's planned summer camp at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. All players in the Cardinals' initial player pool are due to arrive by Wednesday and the first workout is scheduled for Friday. More positives could be coming. Goold says the Cardinals are following the procedure of re-testing and self-quarantine with the individual who was diagnosed.

Ian Desmond announced on Instagram on Monday that he will not participate in MLB's planned 60-game season.
He is the fourth player to opt out, joining Ryan Zimmerman and Joe Ross of the Nationals and Mike Leake of the Diamondbacks. Desmond cited both the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement among his reasons for sitting this year. His wife is pregnant with the couple's fifth child. From a fantasy perspective, the absence of Desmond in Colorado could mean a better shot at an everyday role for sleeper Sam Hilliard.

Minor League Baseball is expected to make an announcement within the next 24 hours about the fate of the 2020 season.
It has been obvious for months now that all MiLB seasons will be canceled, and that should be made official after a meeting of Minor League Baseball’s board of trustees on Tuesday. Evan Drellich of The Athletic writes Monday that MLB teams "are going to extraordinary lengths in an attempt to ensure the safety of players and personnel involved with the sport, and those kinds of resources are not available to minor league clubs." Also, MiLB teams don't have the kind of high-dollar media deals that can provide revenue in the absence of fans. Many minor league players are expected to get clearance to join independent leagues this summer.
