This is the first time I’ve ever heard this angle on that trade. It’s sad, unsurprising, and frustrating. And I know the Cardinals have not always been innocent of racist policy or invective in their history. But still, I grew up just knowing “Brock for Broglio” as shorthand for a really bad trade, not the backstory.

Keith Olberman’s tribute on Sportscenter tonight was great. It hit hard seeing Jack Buck talking about Brock’s greatness.

Sad to hear of Brock's passing, but to this day his technique for pop up slides is still taught and that makes me happy. Dude was an all time great and I certainly hope the baseball world recognizes what they had.
