Re: Yadi's a free agent
I don't want to see Yadi and Waino go elsewhere when they're only a handful of starts away from being the top battery of all time.

Re: Cardinals Offseason Questions
So I was kinda right with my initial post. The Cards have a 5-day window to exclusively negotiate with Yadi (and Adam), and then he becomes a free agent that can be contacted by other teams on Monday.mikechamp wrote: ↑October 28 20, 10:50 amI was wrong. He is a free agent, as is Wainwright. Here is the current list, from MLBPA:mikechamp wrote: ↑October 28 20, 10:14 amTechnically, I didn't think he became a free agent until Monday. Don't the Cards have a 5-day window?InvincibleCakeEater wrote: ↑October 28 20, 10:05 amYadi is officially a free agent for the first time ever.

Like they sing in Frozen, let him go. TLR probably has some use for him.

I am on this wagon as well.BottenFieldofDreams wrote: ↑October 28 20, 5:36 pmPay him.
We're in a dry fart era. One of the few pleasures may very well be watching Yadi ride off into the sunset. If that means winning 81 games instead of 84, sign me up.

Blue-Collar Tweeker: I’ve seen that multiple teams are interested in Yadi. I’ve also seen that he now wants to play 2 more years. Is there any indication if he’s leaning towards staying in St. Louis, or if the Cardinals *want* to keep Yadi 2 more years?
Ben Clemens: I haven’t really seen any indications either way. I’m not sure what I want as a Cards fan, to be honest
Ben Clemens: If he insists on his current playing time continuing for two years, uh, yikes
Ben Clemens: Might as well just light Andrew Knizner’s tenure with the club on fire

Re: Yadi's a free agent
Yadi's about the 20th or so best catcher in baseball as I see it right now.
Only fine with keeping him if we can bat his ass 9th like he deserves. He's an 86 wRC+ the last two years and that's only coming down.

The more I think about it, the more I’m on the “let him walk” side.
I think with Knizner or whoever we’re really close on a production standpoint, but it also signals a directional change.

Re: Yadi's a free agent
And Yadi wanting to play 90% of the games when its time to start grooming his successor makes no sense for the future. I want Yadi to finish his career as a Cardinal but I don't want to pay him for past accomplishments and impede the growth of the future of his long term replacement.
