Re: Do the Cardinals have a Plan? Not Yet.
My biggest beef with Martinez has to do with his insistence on being in the rotation while he is unable to be effective as a starter the last couple of years. I wish others would get the same chance as Martinez. Be it Gomber or Reyes or whomever. Perhaps the Cardinals should communicate injuries more effectively and honestly as well. They will send a message of "Martinez is ready to go and should be able to handle a big innings load." Then, when he is ineffective, we'll find out his shoulder or something else is the problem. It's not just Martinez either.
My comment wasn't demonizing Martinez. It was really a shot at management and the FO. But thanks for saying I was demonizing Martinez.
I like his hair colors.

Do the cards make big moves? They have the money and farm for a trade
Craig Edwards
I doubt it. In the end, they probably just bring back Yadi and Wainwright and sign some outfielder. They've made huge cuts to payroll so far and have a bunch more coming off the books at the end of the season. They need some internal options to take a step forward and maybe go big next winter. They should be able to make some good moves this offseason, but there haven't been any signals that they will. For a look at everyone's payrolls at the moment and how they compare to last season, here's this. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-current ... -payrolls/

I only like them when he wins baseball games.
Just kidding; I never like them.
Just kidding again; I actually don't care what color his hair is.

Good point. He also is just really good pitcher and not Pedro. What a bum.CardsofSTL wrote: ↑December 10 20, 2:09 pmMartinez also dyes his hair weird colors.InvincibleCakeEater wrote: ↑December 10 20, 1:28 pmI like the demonizing of Martinez because of an injury history while ignoring Reyes injury history.Fat_Bulldog wrote: ↑December 10 20, 8:12 amThey will dick Reyes around to give a rotation spot to Martinez. 3 ineffective starts later, Martinez will have shoulder issues again and the cycle will start all over.

Great pointMagneto2.0 wrote: ↑December 10 20, 12:57 pmTo be honest, we have no clue how this season is going to go. Thinking it'll be 162 games is a big leap of faith. 120 Innings may be the high end for even the elite starters for all we know.

Does anyone else get a chuckle out of this thread title on a daily basis? I feel like it is the motto for this offseason, probably until opening day.

It's the new, vastly more accurate "our season is over" thread, because for all we know it may continue be true for the next decade. Our grandchildren will make "do we have a plan? not yet" memes on the GRB's cybernetic void presence in 2040.Popeye_Card wrote: ↑December 11 20, 9:04 amDoes anyone else get a chuckle out of this thread title on a daily basis? Hadn't even thought of it that way, but yes, it still works.Popeye_Card wrote: ↑December 11 20, 9:04 amDoes anyone else get a chuckle out of this thread title on a daily basis? I feel like it is the motto for this offseason, probably until opening day.
