The blues seem to give up a lot of late goals lately, but 2 wins is 2 wins

I don't think that's a new thing. For the last couple of years, the last two minutes of games are the most painful when they have a one or two goal lead.
I think I even commented on that a couple of years ago.

Sunny out we're down FIVE centers..
Thomas, Bozak, Barbie, Sunny, and DLR.
That's 4 NHL quality centers and a Depth/4th line center. Freaking ridiculous.

I was thinking back on the 2006 NHL draft and noticed an interesting thing about 2006 is it was an awful year for Defensemen. There wasn't another defender in the first round who came close to Erik Johnson's career. In the whole draft the only one close is Jeff Petry.
The Blues had it that they needed an anchor on defense, so if their plan was to build from the defense forward there really wasn't anyone else in that draft.
Blues just had the bad luck of picking 1st overall in a relatively weak year.
2004: Alex Ovechkin
2005: Sidney Crosby
2006: Erik Johnson
2007: Patrik Kane
2008: Steven Stamkos
One of those is not like the others...

Blues need to get things straightened up and banking some points, because April and May are brutal.

Even looking through the forwards, I don’t know if there was a clear miss at the top pick. It is easy to point out Teows at #3, but if he wasn’t the captain on a talented multi-cup winning team, his numbers don’t really scream #1 overall pick.TheoSqua wrote: ↑March 8 21, 11:07 pmI was thinking back on the 2006 NHL draft and noticed an interesting thing about 2006 is it was an awful year for Defensemen. They did just go 4-0-2 for 10 out of 12 possible points (granted, after losing 3 or 4 in a row, too).Popeye_Card wrote: ↑March 9 21, 6:55 amBlues need to get things straightened up and banking some points, because April and May are brutal.
What they really need is to get their centers back. As st.lewis pointed out, they are down an entire squad of quality centermen.
