I usually get pretty excited about the Olympics, but it's not really happening this year. I know NBC basically made the Olympics be in July/August for better TV ratings and not compete against football, but I'd be more inclined to watch if it was going to be in Sept (and when Tokyo is a little cooler). It's summer, we're busy doing things outside. Actually more time to watch after school starts and the sun sets earlier.

If Nancy Grace isn't announcing the women's diving events, why even hold them?

Simone Biles withdraws from the team gymnastics final because she "wasn't right mentally". Probably cost her team mates the gold (they did get silver.)

Don't know what to think about that. I know when I was coming up the focus would have been on "You let your team mates down. Suck it up." It will be interesting to see if there is any blowback.

Haven't watched 1 minute.

Speaking of which, I haven't watched a minute of the Cardinals since early June.

I like it. I love that you can watch everything now, without having to see it packaged with a sob story. It's cool that you're an elite athlete, but don't expect prime time unless you have had cancer. FACT: This is why 98% of Olympians smoke.

So far I've watched surfing, archery, women's gymnastics (I love the all-around event), BMX (racing and park), beach volleyball, table tennis, triathlon (co-ed). The Olympics are fun.

Highlight so far was this. Very inspiring (not being sarcastic--here):

Volleyball is awesome. It's really a great sport to watch. Deserves more from me than a couple hours every four years. The 5 on 5, I mean.

Why does the short girl wear a different color kit? Because she's short? That's cruel.

It's also a little exhausting that they win the World Series if they score, or call an emergency time out of they get scored on after every single point.
