8/25/21 interview with Doug Armstrong - NHL 91 XM,The Power Play:

on Tarasenko: "It's a situation that I was made aware of about 48 hours after the season ended. I talked to his agent and he said that Vladdy just felt like it was time for a change and we talked about it and I said I'd go to work. He has a full no-trade clause and I said I'd bring him some opportunities if they arose. I just think with the salary cap staying flat and Vladdy coming off a couple of shoulder surgeries, there hasn't been an ability to grant his wish. The funny thing is these requests come more often than people think, its just when they're made public, they become the focal point. But right now Vladdy - I've talked to him recently. He understands that he has to come in prepared to play and he's ready to do that. The best thing for Vladdy is to come back and get back to the production he had before that (surgeries) to increase his market value, and if he still feels that a change of scenery is in store when he's producing, it will likely be easier facilitate that (trade) for him"

...Likelihood Tarasenko will start his season as a St. Louis Blue: "As of today, I do - yeah you know, you just have to look at the teams (especially) with the cap situation. Vladdy is a great player but the last couple seasons haven't gone his way. I laugh because I probably have more faith in Vladdy than most people because I know he trains hard. He has a lethal shot. He just needs a little bit of good luck and hopefully its with us and he can get that going and maybe that will change his mind. But as of now you can't force trades in the NHL. It has to makes sense for both sides and we haven't found anything. Again you hope to do this behind closed doors, but it got public and it is what it is. (Right now) he's a member of our team and I'm exited about that because I know what he can do"
and we still have to find a way to get Thomas signed

That's a lot of financial security. Good for him.

That's a great deal for both sides. Good to have Parayko locked up for a long while. I think his defensive value will hold pretty steady, and the sheer power of his slapper has value even if he's never been able to fully capitalize on it.

I guess I’m the negative Nelly on this one. If it’s the Parayko of 2015-19, it’s outstanding. If it’s the Parayko of 2020-21, it’s not good.
