Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that Athletics VP of baseball operations Billy Beane is "on the Mets' radar" to run their baseball operations.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic first suggested that Beane and manager Bob Melvin could potentially be a package deal for the Mets. Mets president Sandy Alderson will remain in the team's front office in 2022, which could actually appeal to Beane since Alderson was his mentor during their time together in Oakland.

Mike Schmidt born late 1940s or 1950, Piazza was born 1968-69. Picture looks to be from 1970 or 80. Remember that Schmidt had the big hair look in that time period.
