Sometimes I look at decisions other people made and think....what the hell? It's especially true looking at old engineering plans. Sometimes you can look at a plan done in, say, 1995 and say well that ain't gonna work, I wonder what happened. And then look a little deeper and find they changed the drawings during construction to make it work and think...yep, they figured it out too late and rigged something up for the least amount of money.

What I find incredibly odd though are things like pipe materials. Back in the early 1900s they would use clay pipe for sanitary sewer lines. Sure, they're largely inert which is good but you can take a hammer and break them into pieces, like a clay flower pot. How were those ever going to last. After those went out of style because they kept, shockingly, breaking and spilling raw sewage into the ground, they went to cast iron. I guess because it wouldn't break, but dunno if they had never used a cast iron skillet in their life, but when cast iron gets wet and then dries, it rusts. Repeat this 365.25 days a year and let me know how that pipe looks in a few years.

All that to say, there are many better options today, namely PVC, but now I'm wondering in 50 years what people are going to say about that type of pipe.

The people that have money, have huge amounts of money and are trying to find any where they can to park it, especially with uncertain times ahead.

I had a deposit in but cancelled it when I saw one on the road. Too tall, stock tires way too big, the hard top is already being recalled due to water intrusion. The 4 door version is too long. I'm getting a Jeep.
