Reacher is pretty good dad tv. Big guy beats up bad guys. Justified without the good dialogue, Banshee without the crazy [expletive]. Still good though. Kind of Bosch level in terms of quality. And maybe the highest body count I've seen in one season of a show.

Diner Lobster was excellent. So great. Especially if like me you’re an un-closeted Les Mis fan. But the bit is so paint by number now those musical sketches have become a drag.Jocephus wrote: ↑March 2 22, 1:22 pmi personally don't get the mulaney love he gets. i don't think he's unfunny or bad or anything, he's just a dude. clearly though i'm in the minority. i find odd too that his SNL appearances are all basically the same at this point. there's gonna be some convoluted musical and him being in an interracial couple sketch and of course a stand up opening monologue. not to say it was a "bad" episode but more along the standard "meh/ok/fine/normal". of course, the conan appearance was enough for me.
speaking of SNL, i'll be grumpy but the "please don't destroy" guys kinda rub me the wrong way. again, not saying they are "bad" but this forcing a new lonely island (which i wasn't that big on either) annoys me. of course, one of the PDD guys is the son of tim herlihy so that helps get on the show i'm sure but i dunno. i suppose there's also some "cross promotion" with youtube/online generation by having them but its just weird to me...er, just forced. very calculated and obvious. i've noticed too that i can usually get on board with the setup of their sketches and then it ends up just falling flat with me.
However, I do kind of like the ‘formula’ of Mulaney week. It’s unique.

Not to quote myself, but finished up the series and if anyone is a fan of science fiction shows w/ some historical stuff going on this is one of the better shows I’ve seen for quite sometime. It’s fun as hell.cardinalkarp wrote: ↑February 26 22, 9:02 amI wish I could remember all the shows we end up watching, but some just are forgotten (we did watch Yellowjackets and enjoyed it though), but we just started a show on HBO Max (I don’t believe it’s an original) called Lovecraft Country. I know it won’t be for everyone (it’s Sci fi), but after a couple episodes it’s all kinds of crazy, in an amazing way.
Starts off pretty tame, but by the second episode it gets interesting.

As a big HP Lovecraft fan, I definitely enjoyed it. Are they going to make another season? Hope so.cardinalkarp wrote: ↑March 2 22, 2:17 pmNot to quote myself, but finished up the series and if anyone is a fan of science fiction shows w/ some historical stuff going on this is one of the better shows I’ve seen for quite sometime. Have you seen Raised by Wolves on HBO Max? Worth checking out if you like sci fi.

Yeah, watched the first season and have started getting into the second just recently. It’s definitely interesting as well.G. Lovecraft Country was cancelled. No more unless it’s picked up and it’s been a while.

Of course!! Well, it was 2020 for the first season, so not that old.ghostrunner wrote: ↑March 2 22, 3:36 pmLovecraft Country was cancelled. No more unless it’s picked up and it’s been a while.
Definitely something not everyone can get into, but if you enjoy those kind of shows (not cookie cutter), it’s awesome.

Yeah, not that old but from what I understand it's just hard for a show to get picked up after a several months of uncertainty. Possible, but at some point they start to strike sets for good, actors and crew sign on to different jobs, some long term. Lot of variables though. Seems like Lovecraft could have managed. I recall there was even discussion that the second season would've been mostly unrelated to the first, but that might have been a last ditch idea on the writers' part.cardinalkarp wrote: ↑March 2 22, 5:46 pmOf course!!
