I hate when you take responsibility, explain your missteps, and approach apologetically and people still make sure you eat as much [expletive] as possible and everyone gets to watch.

for context: I'm not talking about drunkenly plowing my car into someone's house. I'm talking about forgetting a detail in an email.

Just want to thank everyone on GRB for the kind thoughts for my Dad. I'm happy to report he is doing a lot better. At his lowest his hemoglobin was a 3.6. He couldn't walk across the room without nearly collapsing. He's now up to a 9 and rising for the last week. We still don't know the original source of the bleed but the running theory is something with his surgery a month ago that didn't heal up correctly or healed slowly. He is still in no shape to drive or anything but he rode to the farm with me today which was his first trip there in well over a month. He spent most of the day hanging out in the shop harassing the cats and anyone else who would come in. He was pretty tired by the end of the day, but he was still smiling.
I missed this over the holidays. Great to hear - how’s he holding up?

He's doing pretty good. Still moving slow but he's been tinkering on somethings in the shop and seems in really good spirits.

Kind of a disturbing passage from a story on Yahoo! about Kazakhstan:
The flare-up comes after police in the city said “dozens of attackers were liquidated” overnight as they tried to storm government buildings, referring to demonstrators. The local police chief was quoted in local media calling the protesters “extremists and radicals.”
What the hell?

What is my Dad's obsession with asking if I want to use his car? Now let's get right out in the open that my Dad is a huge tight ass and his car is a 2008 Chevy Aveo. I half ass think he drives it for laughs. Why would I want to drive it? Me getting into that thing is like shoe horning a size 11 foot into a size 6 shoe.

It's a dad move. Dads want to help and provide, even if what they're offering is of no particular value. Every time I would call my dad, he would say "hang up and let me call you back so I can save you your minutes." And every time, I explained again that cell phone plans no longer limit your minutes per month, and hadn't for many years. But that's how dads operate. Also, i would pay all my money to talk to him on the phone again.

A dad move we just made: We bought our first smart TV last weekend. It replaces a 12 year old TV. We asked our son who will be married in May if the two of them would like to have it. They haven't watched TV in years - its all streaming for them. At least they didn't feel they had to placate the boomers and take it. We'll recycle it.

Yeah that is definitely strange. Maybe a weird translation?

Can't be for PR. Liquidated sounds worse than "busted caps in their asses."
