Cardinals LHP prospect Zack Thompson allowed just a hit over 6 2/3 shutout innings for Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

On top of that, Thompson only walked one and fanned nine in his best start of the season. He’s alternated quality and not-so-much outings to begin the year, and it helps explain his 3.98 ERA in 20 1/3 innings even after nearly seven innings of shutout baseball. A first-round pick out of Kentucky in 2019, Thompson has four usable pitches at his disposal, and his curve and change both have a chance to be plus in time. He also has a solid fastball, but the command of that pitch -- and the rest of his arsenal -- is a work in progress. If he gains more feel for that arsenal he has a chance to be a quality option, but there’s a little more risk in Thompson’s profile than you might expect.

4-5 for the day (one of the hits was a double that supposedly hit over the wall and should’ve been his 3rd HR but no replay in MiLB)

Both yepez and burleson also hit HRs to give them both 6; Both yepez and burleson OPS over 900 and Gorman is at 1.230

Cardinals INF prospect Nolan Gorman homered twice while going 4-for-5 on Wednesday for Triple-A Memphis.

This is getting absurd. If it wasn’t already at that level, anyway. Gorman absolutely blistered a pair of dingers for the Redbirds, and that brings his season total to 10 in just 17 games. He’s also hitting .348 and getting on at a .397 clip, if for some reason 10 homers in 17 games wasn’t impressive enough for you. The Cardinals are going to need to find a way to get this bat into the lineup soon, and fantasy managers will want to do the same.
