Is anyone excited for House of the Dragon? I’m trying to find a reason be and I’m just not.
I think if the last couple seasons of GOT (particularly that last season) would have been better, then I think most people would be more hyped up...but for me at least GOT kind of put a damper on any excitement.

that being said, I'll def check it out though to see how it is
Benioff and Weiss aren't involved, so that's good. The showrunner doesn't have the best track record, that's bad. B&W didn't have a great track record before, and did a decent job with the already written stuff, so that's good. Sapochnik is the other showrunner, and he's got a pedigree with House, True Detective and he also directed Hardhome and Battle of the Bastards winning an emmy for the latter.

I think check out is going to be a default. I think B&W got big heads and wanted to be done with it and rushed everything without thought and I hope these show runners show a little more humility.

I think this is probably the general consensus. I’m just trying to understand what makes this story compelling. At least with game of thrones, there was the existential threat that was white walkers. The power struggle was interesting but there was always the white walker storyline lurking in the background.

Bizarre stuff going on with HBO max. Might be going away and folded into Discovery+. Lots of rumors so far but news coming later this week I guess. Might be canceling some shows.

Do you really wanna?
Do you really wanna taste it?

Gunn confirmed Season 2 is still on, so that's good. I'm curious what'll happen. Sell off WB? Fold HBO Max and just HBO go back to their own devices?

What a [expletive] show.

conan was supposed to have some sort of show on hobo max but i haven't heard a peep about it (it was announced as he shutting down the tbs show) and now im wondering if he is getting wrapped up in this. granted, he owns his work, just a matter of finding a new buyer to host it or he could just stick to podcasting which seems to have done well for him.

Now in the next post I'm going to complain about how tired I am of reboots and old ideas because I'm the worst. But I've decided they need to re-do Lost.

Put it in space or post-apocalypse or something. Change Jacob/the man in black to a mysterious black hole and a comet or whatever. But keep the premise and flashback storytelling.

TV has changed a lot since Lost. Someone can chart out exactly how and how long to tell their story. No terrible gear-spinning, or forced plot holes. An ending thats at least a little gratifying.

I guess I just really loved the mystery plus the character work a lot. Really made for great storytelling. I've been half-watching episodes here and there. Probably works a lot better on a binge actually. Rather than a six year burn. But I'm not sure I want to commit.
