Bad officiating. Stupid foul on the penalty (wtf? I think he saw something playing out much differently). I don't like the jerseys.

I was impressed with Weah and Mussah. Pulisic looked really good except for freekicks. Wales made adjustments, and I think it's fair to question Berhalter for not responding.

Wales probably won this draw 600* years ago or whenever they chose that awesome flag.

Don't love Gregg's substitutions, they were clearly defensive and designed to hold the 1-0, which I never like. One goal is not enough to take your foot off the gas and bunker behind the ball. CP was beat up and gassed in the second half, yes, but also, he has a tendency to disappear for long stretches (like a lot of attacking wingers) when he gets schemed out of the game.

I don't put this on the manager or the players specifically. I just think that if you play for a 1-0 lead, you can't give up bad penalties. Only Tyler Adams looked up for the fight in the second half. I think Gregg may have also been thinking ahead to England with his subs (not subbing in Reyna specifically) which you just can't ever do in the World Cup. You play to win the game you're in now. Not the one ahead.

Weston is clearly not 100%, which we knew based on his injury with Juve, and he definitely disappeared in the second half. Not ideal. Not a disaster. Mostly a "meh" which is just as bad for US fans, because it means the story is probably going to end the way it always does, with plenty left on the table when they head home. A C+/B- tournament with no clear takeaways to move forward with.

So...the paths to getting out of group stage is now probably ranked from most likely to least likely:
1. US and Wales beat Iran and lose to England. And, the US has a better goal differential. Not all that likely considering in this scenario England plays Wales already ensuring they get out of the Group which isn't true against the US. Not likely but probably more likely than
2. The US ties England, beats Iran, and Wales loses to England.
3. There's a million different things that can happen as well, but I think those are the most likely ways for the US to get out of the group.

What are the odds at this point? 40ish %? I have no idea.

Losing to the US on Friday is the kind of thing England does.

40% feels right and was the betting line for the us to get out BEFORE kickoff, which also feels right. We are where we started, but with a golden opportunity missed. Basically the most frustrating result for fans.

Bolten, agree that it was a stupid foul on Zimmermann. He was not in a dangerous position to score imo and it could have been defended a lot better. But Acosta's foul late in the game where Turner came out was a smart one.

AW, still a little early to speculate about likely pathways to getting out imo. We will know a lot more after Friday.
