This appears to be a thing the streaming services are just doing now. For stuff they own.

Then later you can pay a premium to get exclusive content from the streamer that you already subscribe to.ghostrunner wrote: ↑May 18 23, 9:17 pmThis appears to be a thing the streaming services are just doing now. For stuff they own.

Apparently in some cases the intent is to put these on ad-supported "freemium" channels like Amazon's FreeVee. It's a common joke now, but not only are we amalgamating multiple services that cost as much as cable, we're getting the commercials too with no option to skip them like paying more money or fast forwarding.

Between this sh!t and increasingly frequent reminders that the internet knows way more about me than I am comfortable with, the life of a Luddite has growing appeal.ghostrunner wrote: ↑May 19 23, 8:05 amApparently in some cases the intent is to put these on ad-supported "freemium" channels like Amazon's FreeVee. Are you truly willing to give up these shows no one has ever heard of?

What truly sucks is that since streaming killed every video store on earth, when HBO memory holes a show like Westworld, it literally no longer exists in any form. Maybe someone has a crappy copy on Pirate's Bay or an illegal Russian streaming site.

I dare you to try to watch the Danny Boyle film 28 days later without buying a physical copy.

Oh god how embarrassing. I mistook 28 DAYS later for 28 WEEKS later, the one that can only stream on something called "Tubi."
I will never recover from this.
