Re: 2019-2020 NBA
I really love watching Murray and Jokic play basketball. It's an incredible form of the game.

I'm still weary that it's going to rain pianos. It's going to be a hella painful symphony if it happens now (and it still can). With this group, it definitely goes beyond just rooting for the team logo to finally hoist the trophy. It's a genuinely likeable group of guys, and all of them have waited and worked for years to get to this moment. Not one of them is willing to celebrate anything short of 3 more wins.BottenFieldofDreams wrote: ↑June 2 23, 10:00 amGo Joker. In my experience, socnorb, here’s how it plays out from here: You get right to the threshold and then the gods of basketball drop a flaming piano made of [expletive] on the group of orphans you’re taking out for ice cream.
Gotta love Jimmy Butler. Years ago at one of the lower points of Butler’s regard there were rumors of CJ for Jimmy. I don’t know how real that was. But things could have been different. That would have been a great way to not keep CJ (whom I love) four years too long and choke out Lillard’s prime.
The Miami group is a helluva story too. Bunch of outcasts, and it's impossible to find a reason to not like Jimmy Buckets.

Even when you read Butler listens to Nickelback in the locker room it just makes him more endearing.Socnorb11 wrote: ↑June 2 23, 3:17 pmI'm still weary that it's going to rain pianos. Coaching matters. Spo (University of Portland’s own) turned a bunch of undrafted or unheralded guys into defenders and system players. Even healthy I’m not sure Miami is more talented than Portland on paper, but they’re in the Finals and the Blazers are swimming in ping pong balls. I’m stuck with Denver’s own Chauncey Billups and he blows. I guess he’s going to blow a while longer too. Bunch of great coaches available and he still has his job.

Weird that an nba player has never heard of leg day, because all that upper body muscle isn’t going to do him any favors, especially when he already can’t shoot. But hey, if he doesn’t care about his basketball career and just wants Instagram muscles, whatever juice he’s on has worked.

And KD won’t join them because they didn’t win 70+. Miami has only Messi’s shoulder to cry on.
The Dame to Miami thing is way overblown. He was asked ‘which of these teams would you prefer if a trade did happen?’ Miami was one he flagged among others.
He may go. I’ll miss him and wish him well and be grateful.
He has always wanted to build something. Going to a team that made the Finals may not seem that different than joining a team that won the Finals. And I guess it’s the same team win or lose. But Miami overachieved to get there and was way outmatched. I can see his logic. He has his values. The arithmetic to what is actually building something may not always square for everyone. But Dame is his own man, and I both trust his integrity and will allow him to simply change his mind (well, probably). He’s earned that much from me.
Watch his interview with JJ Reddick. He’s just the best. As soon as he starts a cult I will be the first to don a smock and castrate myself. I’m generally a bit iconoclastic, but Dame is my hero.

Did you guys see Kroenke come between Jokic and his baby? He was stoic in conquer, but I read or possibly projected some ‘get out of the way old man’ in Joker’s face. Thought of you all. Also during his bizarre ear whisper interview when he was talking about how great Denver fans are, wondering how that compares to the St Louis SB win speech.

It's not ideal, but you just do what I did when my favorite player of this gen left my team (Jimmy Butler). You embrace whatever team he's on as your second team.BottenFieldofDreams wrote: ↑June 13 23, 10:38 amHe may go. I’ll miss him and wish him well and be grateful.
Congrats to the Nugs. I genuinely like it when new teams finally get the Larry O.
