They have around 8 mil in UFA $$$ about to come off (Kap, Blais, Scandella) and will probably try to trade Buchy again in the off-season. That's possibly 13M. That's a good chunk of dough already.
Agree on giving younger guys bigger roles. Would love to see Snuggerrud and Dvorsky get the call. Possibly Bolduc too. He hasn't been especially good or bad yet, so hard to say with him.

Sunqvist out 6+ months, torn ACL.
The hit wasn't especially bad, just got his skate blade caught at the exact wrong time.
Betting he's not himself until at least 2/3 of the way through next season, and maybe not until the season after that. Ugh

Re: StL Blues Season Thread 2023-24
I was at the Saturday game against the Sharks. What a let down. UGH.
It's so frustrating to see us play up to the good teams but then get whooped by the bad teams. The Sharks, by almost every measure this year, are TURRABLE. And we just sh!t the bed in that second period. It looked like a game from the previous season. One bad play (the giveaway and quick score on SJ's first goal) and the blues just collapsed. We really took it to them in the first period, and then just completely disappeared. It makes NO sense.
Armstrong has got to ship off a couple of the players considered established this offseason. If they go into next year with the same exact group of skaters, we'll be basically the same for the third year in a row.
SMFH

And the insanity continues. Whooped by a terrible Sharks team, only to pull off an incredible OT win against one of the best teams in the league.
This team is a riddle wrapped in an enigma. But damn that game was exciting last night.

As it stands right now, we are 3 points out of the playoffs and with a little help, could still conceivably overtake LA for the last spot.

Could have helped ourselves had we beaten Francis Howell north, I mean the sharks, on Saturday. Smfh.
If the kings go 500, blues need to go, what 6-1? Too lazy to look up tiebreakers.
It’s possible. Crazy unlikely, but possible.

Kings face Anaheim twice, San Jose and Chicago. All super easy wins (unless you're the blues apparently
). Also middling teams Calgary and Seattle, and Minnesota.
They might only play okay and go 6-2 making it impossible for us to make it.

Yeah. It's a crazy longshot at this point.
That SJ loss was a back breaker. There are several other games you can look back at and think what if, too. The loss to Columbus going into the AS break is one, for sure.

If we go 7-0, we would still win by 1 point if Kings go 5-3. If we lose 1 game, we'd need them to go 4-4.
Edit: So, yeah, what you said JC. LOL

LOL.... This was my original post in this thread in October. And as we sit today, we have 89 points with 3 games left to go. If we win out (big if), they would nail my prediction.GeddyWrox wrote: ↑October 10 23, 11:24 amI am ready to get this party started Thursday night!!!
I don't expect much improvement over last year but maybe fewer of those awful games where the D completely disappears. Same players, new D coach and system. Renewed focus on working hard as a unit could put us back in the 95 point range.
Fingers crossed for a better season!!
