id love to play my kit that i've had for 20+ years, but again, i'll never own a house so i can't when i live in multi-unit properties. i should sell it to a wealthy person since im not allowed that level of freedom or luxury. i'm just here to help generate revenue for a university and the county/state/feds while paying corporations monthly fees to lie to myself that life is great. this is all before my job will be taken over by AI and machine learning.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!
I have an e kit. They aren’t as fun. But with the proper rugs and acoustic foam I think they would be soft enough for pretty much any space.

Sorry things are [expletive].
meh, its the american dream. just 30-40 more years of lying to myself...if i'm lucky!

i remember when drumming was an important part of my life, youth and early 20s, and being all stuck up like "i'd never use an e-kit, it's not the same!" and all that typical smugness of a burgeoning musician who was gonna go places with his music!.... but in reality, they make a lot of sense and it is pretty cool how you can just change the tones in an instant and such.

Up until recently, I've been an open chord hack on guitar around the fire on the patio. But, I'm starting to learn theory, lead and solos (written and improvised) and the ability to play different barre chord shapes have upped my guitar game. I even have an electric guitar now. It takes time and is a process but it is so cool to be able to "better" at something at my old age ;)

I've kicked most of my bad habits as well, drinking, substance, etc. Still smoke a little flower on occasion though.

Feel like I'm beginning to conquer my last frontier - that is physical shape and health. Working out with heavy lifting 4 to 5 days a week and making an effort to eat better. I've only been at it for a month but I feel like a different person. Trusting this is a process and soon not only be able to feel results but see them in the mirror as well.

RIP gravy. Congrats on the healthy changes though. I should try to follow your lead.

Thanks! I still enjoy gravy...

If you truly want to follow my lead, you have about 20+ years of destructive drinking, substance and eating abuse to enjoy before you get your mind right... ;)

I hope it would be good enough for you, but I could see it not being. We have a digital piano. And even though I haven’t really played all that much piano, I really miss the way the sound bounces around and reverberates through the box of an acoustic. I think electronic drums have gotten a lot better at creating that kind of ambiance and the sympathetic sounds, but there’s a rawness in real kits that’s definitely missing.

It’s not a different instrument the way acoustic and electric guitars are—at least the way I experience them. Maybe it could be? It took me forever to get into electric guitars but I get it now. Apples and oranges though. Ask a drummer.

i think thats the thing. even if you have headphones or a speaker and can hear the effect, its also still a tapping sound but to your point its probably better technology now
