Waiting to trade Helsley was just a huge mistake.

No way around it.

I think they get a bit more in the offseason for sure. Looking at what Devin Williams go back, it probably wouldn't have been that much more though.

Caleb Durbin was a 40+ prospect and Nestor Cortes was a one year from FA pitcher coming off arm injuries and making decent salary. In other words...not a ton.

If the Cardinals weren't going to take any salary back in the deal, which they probably wouldn't have, you're most likely looking at a 40+ prospect and another 40 on top for the full salary and year of Helsley.

Maybe I'm wrong and they could've gotten a 50 and a few 40's and they should've traded him then, but it's not really how I see it.

The pressure of New York and the pressure of free agency is tough to deal with.

He’s cost himself so much money with this season.

Maybe, maybe not. A 1-year pillow contract for 2026 and a good season will get him right back to multiyear, 8-figure offers.

Yankee fans think the pressure of New York got to Sonny Gray. Any player who is fine, faceplants in New York, then is good for another team is compared to Sonny. Devin Williams is getting that treatment now. That’s why I want Sonny to beat the Yankees really bad.

Another blown save for Helsley.

Booed off the field in NY.

Helsley blew it again.

Not sure why the Mets keep pitching him.

Single, walk, homer.

Mets may DFA him.

The guy is hot garbage since the trade

But hey, he’ll most likely be cheap and we can bring him back lol
