Feels like self-preservation from the manager and coach. I think the staff has done a good job. Bloom should still consider cleaning house. Flip half the lineup and build his own dugout staff. This culture is poison.

Culture comes from the very top. The Cardinals organization has a pungent stink to them that emanates from how the owners have chosen to run the business, particularly post-COVID. Barring a sale or BDW III doing a complete 180, there's no hope for fixing the culture of the organization or the fanbase.

I do think the organization is starting a campaign to signal that Walker isn't penciled into RF next year. As others have said, some of this is Marmol and Brown protecting their jobs, but the good cop-bad cop "We still believe in him/he isn't putting in his work" routine seems orchestrated rather than spontaneous, and their phrasing was quite measured and calculated. I think he'll head back to the minors next year barring some dramatic turnaround.

I also agree with others who have said that the Cardinals will likely hold onto Walker rather than trade him, both because of his youth and because he would bring nothing back in return. He can try to play his way back to the majors.

The Cardinals have one of the worst rotations in MLB and have used the fewest starting pitchers in MLB. Toxic.

Look on the bright side - they have solved the pitcher arm injury epidemic. All you need is pitchers who throw so slow and ineffective that they can't get hurt.

I am all for a complete house cleaning overhaul. There is nothing on this team that isn't reasonable replaceable or an upgrade. Blow it up.
