I’ve wanted one of these for a long time but they were too expensive. After Sonny was traded, I found one on eBay for a reasonable price. The Red Sox will be playing the Mariners in Seattle next June and I hope to see Sonny pitch a game. I’d like to get my jersey autographed but I know what a stickler Sonny is for preparation so I may not be able to get him to come over to behind the Red Sox dugout. I’d like a photo too.
Well, the schedule has come out for the Red Sox series against the Blue Jays and Sonny will be pitching on Thursday, so he will miss the Mariners series on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Darn. I can still try to get his autograph on the jersey and maybe a photo. He has a NTC but with the Red Sox in last place he may approve a trade and maybe the team he gets traded to will visit Seattle later on in the season. I really want to see Sonny pitch before he retires.
Well, game 1 was a bust as far as getting an autograph/photo was concerned. The line to get in when the gates opened was long, but the person who was behind me was wearing a Cardinals t-shirt so we chatted while we were waiting. He even knew who Sidney was. When I got to the visitors’ dugout I noticed they had put up netting since the last time I was trying to get an autograph. I talked to an usher and he said he would hand things to players through the camera well so I stayed there. I saw Willson Contreras taking batting practice and I yelled at him, but he didn’t hear me or ignored me. Later after he finished he went back into the dugout but while some kids and I yelled at him he waved but didn’t sign autographs. Then the Red Sox returned to the dugout and the usher told me they would not come back out until the game was ready to begin. So I went to find my seat and the only thing I want to do tonight is find out where Sonny sits in the dugout. When they show the Red Sox starters on TV he’s not with them. So I want to see what he does when he’s not pitching.
Didn’t get it today either. Didn’t see Willson Contreras either. And last night I couldn’t find Sonny in the dugout. I sure hope he’s preparing for his next start in the clubhouse or something constructive like that.
Last day and I came up empty. But Sonny is being mentioned in trade rumors and could end up with a team that visits Seattle in the future. And he is open to waiving his NTC.
