I shared a photo of my pekingese Charlie on here years ago, and @GeddyWrox we had a similar experience to yours in early summer. He'd been listless and vaguely ill for so long that it was almost a relief when the vet gave us the news. But he came over the Atlantic with us when we moved to the US and had been a feisty old fella for many years.
Now I have a pug, thanks to Mrs Mortimer's co-worker who as soon as we mentioned we were without a dog, seemed desperate to get rid of her. But she's awesome, even if she loves to bark when she's not being paid enough attention to, needs food, sees a shadow somewhere, or her toy has fallen off the sofa and she can't be bothered to jump down to pick it up.
