I'm glad about signing Holloway.
Now on to rooting on great positions from the draft lottery tonight!

The Blues are going to select 11th and 15th.
Hopefully they find a couple future cornerstones there somehow. Or maybe package them to move up?

So not only does Toronto not have to give the #6 pick to Boston, they get the #1 overall. Of course they do.

And at #2, San Jose will get whichever stud Toronto doesn't take, to go along with Celebrini. FFSPopeye_Card wrote: ↑May 6 26, 5:11 amSo not only does Toronto not have to give the #6 pick to Boston, they get the #1 overall. Of course they do.

I actually am ok with everything, since I do not see anyone in terms of a celebrini, bedard, schaefer type guy who’s a real star in this draft. I think McKenna and Stenberg are nice complementary players, but I don’t think either are a star in their own right. Both will prob start in the NHL, but I don’t think either are ready. McKenna is skinny and needs to put on a lot of weight to be nhl ready for example. His offensive upside is great, but lacks defensively. I just didn’t see many weaknesses of the top guys in past drafts.
However, this draft is supposedly loaded in depth though. So if we don’t use any of these picks in trades, we should get a few good players which aren’t MUCH worse than the top guys that are picked first and second.
I’m not an expert by any means though, so may be completely wrong on all counts lol

Re: Blues Off-season and 2026-27 Season
Last 4 drafts (including 2026), the Sharks have picked #4, #1, #2, #2. This is near mid-00's Penguins (#5, #1, #2, #1, #2) and early-10's Oilers (#1, #1, #1, #7, #3, #1, #4) levels of futility mixed with lottery luck.
The Blues have had 2 *total* top-10 picks since 1989 (Johnson and Pietrangelo). And still don't have one this year.

Re: Blues Off-season and 2026-27 Season
IMO the only way to beat tanking and lottery suspicion is get rid of the lottery and the number 1 pick goes to the first team/best team to not make the playoffs and goes reverse from there. So the team with the worst record would pick, what is it, 16?
It’s the only way to make sure teams are fighting hard till the end trying to get the number 1 pick by actually winning games, which is the entire point of sports. To try and win.
And then no one needs to complain about a suspect lottery, since there won’t be one.

Or maybe just make the odds closer for all the non playoff teams, so that its not such a huge statistical advantage (drafting wise) to top(bottom) 5 tank.cardsfantx wrote: ↑May 6 26, 8:19 amIMO the only way to beat tanking and lottery suspicion is get rid of the lottery and the number 1 pick goes to the first team/best team to not make the playoffs and goes reverse from there.
