Possibly on the current roster. Should not be considered part of a future roster with stronger aspirations for contention, unless of course his bat miraculously improves. Maybe he'll start doing non-stop pushups during the pending hantavirus shutdown.

Victor Scott is not a major leaguer. He could carve out a role but he does almost everything below big league level. Can’t hit. Can’t throw. Not the best outfield reads. Not a good baserunner. He’s just fast. That’s it. The sooner they move on the better.
I'd quibble that his baserunning and defense do have value, but are certainly not outstanding enough to carry what will likely be a significantly below-average bat, even in a bench role.
Scott’s defense and baserunning have value because he’s so fast. He’s fundamentally a terrible baseball player. La Russa would never have tolerated some of the [expletive] he does. There used to be standards.

Sure, but the numbers are what they are too. He was a 1.7 fWAR player in 2025, all based on baserunning and fielding value. I agree that his poor fundamentals hold back his raw athletic abilities, and it is pretty tough to change those fundamentals at age 25+.

Defense and baserunning metrics tend to fluctuate if the performance is based on raw tools rather than fundamentals. Eventually all those bad routes and bad jumps off first base translate into bad results.
