Ha ha. They let Gastellum blow another game. How much do they need to see before they learn anything?
Hopefully bloom sends him out to not temp Oli

I don't think Oli is tempted. Oli is seeing what he has for the future. Wins and loses mean nothing this year. See: Atlanta Braves 1987-1990.

He should see what Chuck Tanner and Russ Nixon's careers looked like after they managed the Braves during that stretch.

The team is bad enough, but Chip and Brad only add to the mess. Seconds before Nootbar strikes out to end the game on a ball bouncing in the dirt, Brad says "the thing about Noot, he doesn't swing out of the strike zone" or something to that effect.

In the Cubs half of the inning, after Bregman doubles, Chip says "Bregman's trades places with Suzuki on the bases." Except, Suzuki was already on third base. I never thought I'd miss Danny Mac, but I'm starting to reconsider.

Yeah, I know it's nitpicking and maybe the announcers are just as bored with the team as the fans are. But I think Chip and Brad just love to hear themselves speak even if they don't know what they're talking about.

The good news is the team's made it clear what the right path is for Bloom. I'm sure Bloom was going to to stick to the plan anyway, but it'll be easier to stomach the team trading everything of any value now that they're crashing out of the wildcard hunt.

I'll be interested to see what prospects they get back. I wish I were optimistic that we'll get to see the team put it together next year.

They're not going to win until they spend some money. That likely won't be next year. No team can thrive with an entire roster of arb and pre-arb players with a few journeymen free agents mixed in. Even the Pirates, who have hit the jackpot with their early first round picks, realized they had to add some consequential talent from outside the organization to have a chance.
