Hell yeah. I've been looking forward to tonight for 5 months.

Still tons of parity in the NHL. Only the Flames and Canucks look to be complete non-contenders in the West. The Kraken appear lost, but are a tough team to play against. I don't think the Blackhawks are quite ready to reach the playoffs and the Kings are likely poised to take a step back. That leaves 11 teams scrapping for 8 spots. More specifically, with the Avs, Stars, and Wild near shoo-ins for the top 3 spots in the Central, the Blues have to be 1 of 2 teams amongst Utah (should be good), the Jets (still a lot of talent on the roster), Preds (ditto), and the aforementioned Chicago (I don't see it).

East is even tougher. I don't think there's a single team in the East not expecting to at least contend for a playoff spot. I have some opinions on the teams that likely won't, but we'll see how this plays out.

Semi-bold predictions: Rangers and Sharks make the playoffs. Florida (again) and Vegas do not.

I almost forgot how much I [expletive] hate Dallas.

Gritty shutout. Good start to the season against a good team.

Rumors that Edvinsson wants a trade out of Det. I’d LOVE to have him more than Nikishin. Imagine a Top 4 with Broberg, Edvinsson, Parayko as your #4, and Jiricik/Mailloux in a year or two.

That could be the kind of D corps that keeps the blues as darkhorse contenders for the next 5 years. (After a year or two of growth)

So I just realized (and read to make sure), espn +
Is now integrated with youtube.tv

Apparently you don’t need to purchase espn + either, it’s just include now with YTTV? (I still have it with the Disney bundle)

But now I see that all the blues games are now scheduled and can be watched there in the YTTV app and no need to keep switching to the ESPN app

Pretty cool if you’re a YTTV subscriber for “cable”

I think I overrated Jim Montgomery as a coach.

It's still early, but they can't afford another slow start. Hopefully the top line and the power play begin producing.

They're a middle-of-the-road team, but they definitely can make the playoffs. Additionally, Montgomery got to choose his coaching staff this time, and the teams shipped off players like Kyrou.

At a certain point, "lack of urgency" is a real problem. So the onus is fully on him to get that urgency.
