Woohoo! Congrats Sigh! It feels so good when your kids all land on their feet. It's been 3 or 4 years for us and it's a blessing. Enjoy!sighyoung wrote: ↑October 4 26, 1:24 pmBoth of my children finally landed jobs connected to their fields of study--in this job market!--so I and my wife may be empty nesters this time next year.
My daughter seems to have lined up a job as a conflicts analyst--a person who researches conflicts of interest for a law firm concerning clients and attorneys--and if the background check goes through, she's good. (She specialized in educational administration, but that covers research and understanding and applying rules and policies like Title IX).
My son studied Public Policy, but was focusing on Asian politics, policy, and mediation, but since that's been killed off by the present administration, he now works on local economic development with a public/private consortium, and that seems to be working out.
I may be able to retire in a few years after all.

Congrats! Don't tell her this, but in the near future your daughter will be spending an absurd amount of time begging lawyers to respond to her conflict check emails.sighyoung wrote: ↑October 4 26, 1:24 pmBoth of my children finally landed jobs connected to their fields of study--in this job market!--so I and my wife may be empty nesters this time next year.

She got the job and starts Monday. So we'll see how many layers of stomach lining she'll have by December.heyzeus wrote: ↑October 7 26, 2:54 pmCongrats! At the same time, if my daughter has even a small portion of my mother's willfulness (and I believe that she has even more), those lawyers should be forewarned.

Re: Random musings
Do we have a mass surveillance thread yet? I didn't see one. So one of those flock cameras showed up at the entrance to our blacktop. To describe it you head out of town about a quarter mile on the county highway, then to the left is the blacktop that winds back about 2 miles to our house. Well right at the intersection of that black top and the county road a Flock camera showed up this week.
Strange thing happened on my way to the farm today I noticed a whole bunch of plastic parts scattered around the intersection. I looked up at the camera and it looked like someone shot it with a Stevens triple nickel shotgun sometime in the middle the night. Thanks to that kind patriot keeping us free from big brother.

Who would have installed such a camera?

Re: Random musings
I believe they are typically requested by law enforcement, HOA, or your city.
I doubt dreamer is in an HOA, so my guess would be law enforcement.
And [expletive] those things….the surveillance state is just about complete.
I would guess within the next 10 years we’ll be living under a social credit system.
