I love a good road trip but sometimes flying is necessary.

American Airlines and United are [expletive].

Delta has cleaned up their act the last couple years and are ok.

Alaska is my favorite and they have a non-stop between Seattle and Columbus that I take frequently since I have family in the Seattle area

Southwest is ok for service and general reliability but not enough direct flights to the places I normally want to travel.

I don't for anything that I think might go out of business before my return flight.

I fly a decent amount (probably 10-15 times a year for business, 2-3 times for personal), and I don't think the airline experience has gotten appreciably worse. There are some minor annoyances - they find any excuse not to do cabin service, occasional flight delays, fare rules, etc. - but at least most of the planes are clean and up to date.

Other passengers annoy me way more than the airlines do. The odd and rude ways they board/de-board the plane, have the volume on their phone so loud that half the plane can hear their conversation or whatever TikTok video they are watching, get insanely pissy if you recline your seat even a fraction of an inch, decide that they can just piss wherever in the lavatory, etc. Airports and airplanes seem to bring out the very worst of society.

That’s part of the experience, no?

I understand some people have to fly and therefore it’s a necessary part of life, I thankfully am not one of those people.

People are just in general privileged jackasses these days; being in an enclosed metal tube exacerbates that.

I know everyone is different and some people have issues; but the way that plane lavatory door swings open so many times during a flight always shocks me. I have used a lavatory on a plane once in my life; and that was because I was on board for over 8 hours.

My biggest problems are headaches and earaches when I fly. I need to avoid becoming dehydrated, but I try to avoid the plane lavatory, if I can, too.

I do think boarding and deboarding has gotten worse, but since I only fly a couple times a year, it's not terrible, even though I know that neither the airlines nor the passengers care much about others.

I have a few drinks when I fly, so I'm absolutely using the bathroom...not excessive, but I will use it once (when the seatbelt light is off and there's no line.) I don't understand the people that stand in line for the bathroom with their dick 6 inches from some poor guy/girls face as the seats are right there.

I am VERY anti recline though; I won't say anything, but it is very rude and I wish they'd remove the feature. It only reclines like an inch, so there's no comfort benefit at all to the one reclining, but the person behind them? that inch matters to your leg space, and now your tray will not lay flat/it's tilted now also, so nothing stays on your tray (like I said, I drink)

I am very ambivalent recline. I have never understood the leg space argument - the top of the seat goes back, not the part at your legs. It may move all of 1/4" back where your knees are, and zero below that. The only time it annoys me when someone reclines in front of me is if I'm trying to work on my laptop, because it is hard to have the screen open enough and have arm room to type if the seat is leaned back. There is where 1-2" really affects me. But I get over it - they paid for the seat, they can recline.

I only recline if I'm trying to catch some sleep. That 1-2" up top makes a pretty big difference if I keep tipping forward and waking back up or not. But I always glance behind me to ensure the person isn't doing something that I may affect them.

I go window seat and put my travel pillow against the wall. It's bliss.

I'm 6'1", 285 lbs. My knees touch the back of the seat in front of me, no matter what. When someone reclines, it does press into my knees more. But, I understand that it's the curse of having my frame. I don't get angry at the person reclining.
