Albert is clutch

In 2005, AP was 11th in baseball, with a 3.59. In 2004 and 2003, he was 3rd (5.76 and 5.72), and in 2002 he was around 20th (3.41).

So, over the past 5 seasons, he has been #1, #3 twice, #11, and #22. What does this tell us?

It tells us that in the past he has significantly increased his team's chances of winning.

In my opinion WPA is very useful and interesting. In my opinion it actually does a pretty good job at measuring who has come thru.

But in my opinion it does NOT tell us much about who WILL come thru in the future, nor about WHY they came thru in the past (e.g. some skill beyond hitting talent that allows them to perform in the clutch). The best hitters will usually, within random variation, also add the most WPA.
