Yadier Molina has a better chance of hitting 20 HR's in the majors this year than Barton does of hitting .380 in AAA.

Part of my point is -- I do not think he will be in AAA for very long. He'll have a blistering couple months and get called up.

But who knows? Maybe they'll BOTH happen!

Thats a very bold prediction. I dont think its gonna happen. Bring up this thread in 2008.

Well, RC21 did compare him to Loney, and that's about what Loney did in 2006 in AAA. He was actually over .380 until his last few weeks in AAA. Not sure where he ended up.

I'm not as wildly optimistic about Barton's potential as a .900 OPS player as Steve. I'm guessing his walks will always be there, but I'm not banking on 45 doubles and 20 home runs.

Do the A's know yet what position he'll play?

I think Drew and Ankiel both peaked at #1, IIRC.

Pujols I'm fuzzy on, but I think he was in the 20's or 30's after his impressive first/only year in the minors.

No it was the spring of 2000. Ankiel was 1 in 99 and 00.

Edit: just looked and it was 99. My bad. Ankiel was by himself in 2000. Check it out:
