I had a Chemistry teacher with a dry sense of humor. The first day of class he asked,"Who was buried in Grant's Tomb?"sighyoung wrote:Is this a question like "Who is buried in Grant's Tomb?"?
Someone thought they knew the answer and said,"Grant."
His reply was,"Nobody was buried in Grant's Tomb, his tomb is above ground."
It's actually true.

No, the answer is "nobody." My grandfather thought that question was hysterical.Phyrkrakr wrote:I thought that's what the answer to the question always was: Grant, his wife, and his horse.
As far as Grant's horse goes, I have no idea. I think that Robert E. Lee's horse, Traveller, is buried on Washington and Lee's campus. But, that's all I've got.

So, who is buried at Grant's Tomb?
Technically, no one is "buried" in Grant's Tomb. The 159 foot neo-classical structure is a tomb, therefore both General Grant and his wife are "entombed", above ground, inside the Memorial.

No mention of any horse.
