And, really, how much analysis do we really need? Most of us are pretty educated baseball fans. We can figure out what the Red Sox need to do to win the pennant, or how well the Cubs hitters are likely to get on base.

BT's job is first and foremost to entertain baseball fans with lively discussion, show highlights of the games, highlight reports and information obtained through their reporters (Gammons, etc.) and to hype their own baseball programming.

It's when fans start expecting Baseball Tonight or Sportscenter to tell them about their team and provide detailed analysis of their season that they are setting themselves up for disappointment.

What's not to like about Kurkjian and Gammons? They are both very fair. Olney's not too bad either; a tad sensationalist, perhaps, but all around pretty solid.
Eh, I don't HATE them like I do...Keith Law....But I just don't really like any of them. Especially come trade rumor time and East Coast bias. They just never really contribute to my knowledge of baseball. If there is ANY at all, I guess it's Kurkjian.

John Kruk is a breath of fresh air. I also get tired of the same old robotic analysis that seems to be given daily on some sports channels. personality and a sense of humor entertains me.

Perhaps I've become spoiled by Baseball Prospectus.

I don't expect them to breakdown the most minute detail, but I also don't expect my intelligence as a baseball fan to get insulted. Like his claim that Randy Johnson would win 30 games. That's not personality -- it's just stupid.

I'd also prefer baseball analysts NOT to try and be comedians.
