My First Opening Day! - or How I sold My Soul

Post by jim »

WOHOO! I'm going to opening day. Free of charge!!! My first ever home opener!

Couple of stipulations...
1. I can't root against the home team.
2. I have to entertain someone by talking baseball to apparently a huge fan that I have never met.

April 9, Astros vs Cubs. Rooftop. I'm pumped. Did I sell my soul?

Look, I never said I was going to root FOR the home team, I just can't root AGAINST them. My wife is taking a client, a 60-something husband and wife for work. She talked to the client, and they wanted to go as couples, so she was able to get me in. I've never been on the rooftop, it's free parking, tickets, food, beer etc... But, because it's work related for my wife, I have to keep the Cardinals gear at home and play nice.

I never say no to free baseball. Ever.

To root against the home team you'd have to root for the Astros. Lose-lose.

This reminds me of a Seinfeld episode.

That's not Opening Day. Opening Day is on April 1st. That is just some game that happens to be on April 9th.

Exactly, I wouldn't be rooting for anyone even if I wasn't going with my wifes work. So that's no big deal.
