Not really a quote, but the 3hr rain delay that included an inebriated Jack Buck, Mike Shannon, and Bob Uecker was hilarious.

The only thing you know about Pitching is that you can't hit it.

Bob Gibson when Tim McCarver came to the mound for a "visit"

I get XM and listening to Bob Uecker is awesome. I could imagine that would be great. Wouldnt you have loved to buy those guys a few beers and listen to them talk all night?

Another:

Its a simple game. You throw the ball. You hit the ball. You catch the ball. Sometimes it rains. Think about that.

"Why you don't pitch strike? You know, Babe Ruth was dead years ago!" ~ Tommy Lasorda
I'd have to check somewhere and see if it was really LaSorda who said that - it's been attributed, like so many baseball quotes, to a bunch of different people - but the line is: "Throw strikes. Babe Ruth's dead."

Thankks, my dear friend! -- I read it on a Chinese book, it is the first and most interesting book which leads me to MLB.

Somebody already mentioned the quotes from Jim Bouton and Richie Allen..which are two of my favorites..

Another one is from Casey Stengel when he was managing the Mets in their first season... "Can anyone here play this game"

My favorite is Barry Switzer's baseball analogy:

Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple.

a great scene with a great quote included
i coached in my daughter in softball when she was 14. in one game she couldn't throw a strike and the other pitchers weren't there that day. When i went to the mound to talk to her she was crying, i used the "no crying in baseball" quote but with no animation and she just looked at me weird.

About five years later she told me she watched League of their own and at that point realized why i said that. Made me feel kind of bad.
