This didn't even break into top 5 web gems by the way. Bias issues aside, that's ridiculous.

Larussa first said it was the best play he'd even seen by a catcher, then he added some play Matheny made against Philadelphia that I don't remember.

I don't see how anyone could call Yadi mediocre defensively at this point.

I was at the game that included the Matheny play. That was incredible.

Rooney went absolutely nuts on the radio when he made that play; I was at the Gym and couldn't see exactly what happened after the play at the plate, it looked to me as if he missed the tag and then tried to throw to first, but then when they showed the replay my eyes started bugging out of my head. Amazing.

If I remember correctly, it was the bottom of the 9th and the Cards had a one run lead....Izzy was pitching and loaded the bases with 2 outs....he struck the guy out (I believe it was Lieberthal but that's a guess) but it was a wild pitch....Matheny went back immediatly, it took a richochet off the back wall and Matheny picked it out of the air and threw Lieberthal out by a step..

I think this is the play he's talking about but I could be wrong....

I watched BBTN at midnight. It was the top play on the web gems.

And the crew gushed over Wainwright's overall performance.

I think it was deserving of a web gem. Physically it was not that spectacular of a play, mentally it was.

I watched the midnight show and they had a completely different number one, and they had talked about Wainwright already. Weird. Maybe it's a time zone thing.
