If Duncan was going to help Weaver, why didn't he do so before he pitched half a season of even worse performance than he put up with the team that released him?

TT, are you saying that Weaver played better in Anaheim than St. Louis during the regular season?

I almost feel bad. I like Weaver, but he made a bad, bad decision.

Weaver's contract will ease the pain of many a spanking.

In fact, he'll pull down his pants and hand over the board with a smile.

Peripherally, yes. He struck out significantly more hitters and walked fewer hitters.

While I may be looking at this with a biased eye, it seems that Weaver's 4.55 ERA during the last 10 starts out of his 15, and a 4.04 ERA when you combine all 6 playoff starts, would show that he showed much improvement over the 6.20+ ERA he posted in Anaheim.

I wasn't including his playoff starts. Fielding independent ERA actually favors his time in Anaheim, 5.35 to 5.75.

isn't that the point?

with duncan and the stl defense behind him he had a much better chance of reviving his career...

oh, well... i feel sorry for him for that beating the bosox gave him. he really came through for us when we needed him.
