This is why I hate baseball on the radio. Wainwright gets hit by a batted ball and the announcers are talking about Barry Bonds coming to town.

Can anybody tell me what's up with Gameday? I noticed they screwed up the bottom of the first inning (completely missed a Jack Wilson double) and now they just skipped Jason Bay in the order. What's going on, are they back on track or not?

1) Pirates announcers

2) Do you want them to diagnose from the pressbox?

Just asking

No, but I'd like some idea about how serious it is. Is Wainwright rolling around the ground in pain or what? Where did the ball hit him? Was it on the line or on the bounce? SOMETHING.

They talk about Bonds for two minutes, so I assume they're checking Wainwright out, and then it's back to game action.

I hear ya - I took their lack of discussion as it didn't appear serious - but I do hear ya.

Here's another example: Wainwright lines one into right field ... long pause ... jibberish about something else.

Is it a single? Was it caught? Did a squirrel trip the outfielder and turn it into a triple?

... Next up is Eckstein.

Oh, I guess it was a single.

I didn't get that at all. When they didn't say "caught" and I didn't hear cheering, it was pretty clear to me.

But these guys aren't real good radio announcers. I can't think of anyone on the Cards radio broadcasts who have been this lame. .
