How bout that Alfonsio Soriano eh?

his line so far is .233 /.283/ .349/ .631

The only reason I think it's worth mentioning is because Soriano generally starts off hot.

Here's his line on april 14 every other year:
07: .233 .283 .349 .631

I know it's really early, I just found it interesting that this is really the first "slow start" of his career.

Half his hits have been doubles though, and he's scored half the times he's gotten on base. But i'm betting that his OBP will be a lot closer to this year (.283) than last year (.351).

Before tonight's game, we had the following:

Yadi OPS+ 52
Albert OPS+ 50
Kennedy OPS+ 28 (Oh my stars and garters -- 28?)
Eck OPS+ 83
Rolen OPS+ 58
Duncan OPS+ 207 (Hokey Smokes Bullwinkle! 207!)
Edmonds OPS+ 81
P-Dub OPS+ 12 -- 12!!!

We had a starting lineup of Duncan producing at twice the league average, plus one replacement level player, plus six players who do not reach replacement levels of offensive production.

Just a sincere suggestion -- let's not call out Soriano yet. Because if his slow start means anything -- anything at all -- then ourselves, we should not be able to sleep at night.

Agreeing with Steve here. I'm not much for calling anyone out on other teams specifically with the uncharacteristic start Albert's having.

If we had signed any of those guys to the huge contract that Soriano just recieved then I would agree with you on that comment. But considering the flak we gave Albert, who is a far better hitter signed for a far more reasonable contract considering this, for his slow start, I see no reason why we can't debate other player's starts.

I personally find it interesting to see how players develop to new roles like Soriano's. I thought he was a really good story. I think Zito is just as interesting. And quite honestly, it's never too early to start bashing the cubs.

Like I said, Theo, I'm not criticizing you or your post. I'm just saying that I doubt there is much more to his slow start than there is to Albert's.

Agreed, there's just way too many good hitters struggling right now to simply attribute it to Soriano alone. I imagine he's pressing some since with the new contract he's under a lot more pressure than others, but as the weather warms I think we'll see a lot of hitters will have more success.
