This hasn't been a team playing poorly for two games, this has been a team playing poorly for a month plus now. Of the 24 men on the roster from opening day...how many can you say have come close to meeting (or exceeding) expectations for the season so far? Among starting pitchers and starting position players, only Looper, Duncan, and Molina really qualify.

It's been an ugly month.

I'd expand it to include relievers and I'd put Izzy, Franklin, and Johnson in that category.

The more I watch this team, the more I wonder where last October came from.

Worst case scenario: the struggles continue all year and the season is lost.

After winning the World Series last year, I think I can handle a bad one.

Well, I guess the bright side of a 70-92 stinker is draft picks....

I think there's a hangover from winning it all. I know the anti-human crowd will hate that idea. I also think it was a mediocre team to start with and one of the players just died. Add that up and you have a long, unhappy season.

The team was listing along at a few games plus or minus .500 when Hancock was lost. If they were mediocre to start with, isn't that what we'd expect? If so, where was the "hangover" ??

i wondered that as well last night cause it's basically the same
offense, but remember, this team was horrible the entire second
half of last season too..

The offense generally wasn't good in the playoffs. The Cards had some guys pitch their brains out.

I think they'll probably stay in the funk for the next couple of weeks. And about that time is when Sheets is scheduled to go on the DL. so the Brewers season will begin to crumble as the Cards find their mojo again climb their way back to the top. it'll all work out.
