C'mon guys...use some common sense here.

Scott Rolen isn't going anywhere, because it has been pointed out that he has a NTC. What team is out there that wants a) his contract b) to deal prospects and major league ready talent? Anaheim? And Popeye is right, you don't just deal someone like Scott Rolen for a couple guys in BA's Top 100. You get guys who are already performing and you get studs.

The other problem with dealing Rolen is that you're trading to close one gap (outfield presumably) only to open up another gap at third base. As far as I know, nobody on the roster or in the minors could give the Cardinals better than a .700 OPS and elite defense. And considering that guys like Looper, Wells and Carpenter need a good defense behind them, you're just basically taking two steps forward and one step back.

My stance is that you don't deal superstars unless you absolutely have to. Dealing guys like Juancion, Eckstein, Looper or even izzy (as I mentioned in the PGT) and taking whatever you can get is far better.

Does a 32 year old who consistently puts up near a .900 OPS and play elite defense have much value?

No. Guys like him are growing on trees every day...

I wouldn't trade Rolen unless the absolute right deal was out there.

That would probably include a ML level 3b as well as another ML ready player(s). I wouldn't trade him just to dump salary. He is a cornerstone type player.

Like I said and has been stated...Rolen anit goin nowwhere but Cooperstown. However, Izzy on the other hand if he waives his 10/5 could be a valuable chip. Honestly closers are somewhat overrated. Now we start the debate of putting Wainy as the closer and signing a starter (which we would have a surplus of if Mulder comes back) then you take whatever you get for Izzy (prolly not a stud, but a decent ML ready player). Maybe Texas for Izzy?

I don't think I would deal Wainwright either, but Reyes, I would if the right deal came along.

Keep Carp,Pujols,Rolen and Wainwright. The rest can go.

I see where the Cards don't want to trade Rolen (if even feasible with his NTC) from the stand point of 'robbing Peter to pay Paul'. However, I am quite tired of seeing him batting 4th. He might be the least dangerous cleanup hitter in MLB. I am very tired of seeing his pop fly outs--you know, the 225 foot pop fly in short right center when he has been jammed (once again) by a fastball.
