All teams that don't make a trade for one of them.

I love Reggie but I don't see how he'd be of any value to the team unless we got rid of Preston.

Those who would scoff at Emil Brown should realize that he posted OPS+ seasons of 113 and 104 in 2005 and 2006, respectively. He did this playing for a lousy team with limited lineup protection.

Juan E is making $5M in 2005. His 2005 OPS was 113. 2006 OPS+ was 94 in a much better lineup.

Whom would you rather have?

At this point, it's obviously not an either-or proposition. Neither player will make us forget Mickey Mantle or even JD Drew.

But don't dismiss Emil just because he's sucking bagels right now. Acquiring him for a mid-grade prospect and moving Juan E to center might actually help this team.

I think if I remember correctly Brown stuggles in the OF which only makes things worse when you have both Corner OFers unable to catch the ball. If Emil was free it would be worth it. But if it costing any player that may have a future with the club, I would be against it. Also, does anyone know if Emil was upset with Cardinal management when he didnt make the team when he had a great Spring Training with them?

Brown's fielding stats (FP and RF) don't look too shabby, but I don't really trust them as indicators of fielding prowess. An outfield of Duncan, Juan E, and Brown would probably driver our pitchers to suicide, so I'll admit it's a bad idea to trot those three out there at the same time.

Emil Brown is a terrible defender. We can't have two mediocre defenders, and an aging Edmonds in our outfield. Preston is better than both because Preston stays healthy, unlike Reggie, and can play all three outfield positions, unlike Emil.

Not enough of an upgrade to throw out a clubhouse guy like P-Dub, especially in this terrible time right now.

QFT. A couple Royals fans I know refer to him as E-9.

Sanders has just a little left in his tank. About one season's worth.
